Attorney Ysabel

Ysabel Lonazco was born and raised in Callao, Peru. A first-generation college graduate, she obtained her Bachelor of Law and Political Science from the Inca Garcilaso De La Vega University.

Before law school, Ysabel held several jobs in her native Peru, including cashier at Interbank, and legal interns in the Amazon for a nonprofit organization and National Superintendence of Tax Administration (SUNAT). During her summer breaks from law school, Ysabel participated in the Work and Travel Exchange Program as a J-1 visa holder working simultaneously at a ski resort, a supermarket deli, and as a server in a restaurant.

After graduating law school, Ysabel moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she continued her education as an international student at the Salt Lake Community College. She graduated in 2015 with an AAS Degree in Paralegal Studies. She also completed her Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optical Practical Training (OPT) as a paralegal for a prominent Utah criminal defense law firm.

In 2018, Ysabel furthered her education, earning her L.L.M (Master of Laws) degree from Brigham Young University. Her hard work paid off when she was admitted to the Wisconsin Bar in 2019. After admission to the bar, Ysabel began practicing immigration law, which is her area of expertise. Her immigration law practice includes, but is not limited to, deportation defense, asylum, naturalization, adjustments of status, family petitions, and immigrant visas.

Ysabel also worked as a legal advisor for the People of Peru Project, a nonprofit organization, until she joined Ishola Law Group in 2021. She is currently involved in various volunteering projects assisting immigrants in need, such as The Immigration Justice Project and Alliance Community Services. She enjoys giving back to her community and volunteers her time to other civic organizations, in addition to her pro bono legal work. Ysabel is also a volunteer leader of a Salt Lake City-based Girl Scout Troop consisting of only immigrant-refugees. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and is currently serving on the Executive Committee of the AILA Utah Chapter.

Ysabel’s experience as an immigrant to the United States has inspired her. She is uniquely positioned to assist other foreign nationals as she has been through the entire immigration process herself, having been a work and travel participant (J-1), college student (F-1) and a specialty occupation worker (H-1B). She therefore understands the importance of zealous representation of her clients.

Ysabel knows how crucial it is to have professional help when it comes to immigration issues and is dedicated to helping all those who are in need of assistance with their immigration matters. She knows the importance of having a good and compassionate attorney who understands the journey.

Aside from being a native Spanish speaker, Ysabel is also fluent in English and French.
