Attorney Ysabel

Ysabel Lonazco was born and raised in Callao, Peru. A first-generation college graduate, she obtained her Bachelor of Law and Political Science from the Inca Garcilaso De La Vega University.

Before law school, Ysabel held several jobs in her native Peru, including working as a cashier at Interbank and serving as a legal intern in the Amazon for a nonprofit organization and the National Superintendence of Tax Administration (SUNAT). During her summer breaks from law school, Ysabel participated in the Work and Travel Exchange Program as a J-1 visa holder, working simultaneously at a ski resort, a supermarket deli, and as a server in a restaurant.

After graduating from law school, Ysabel moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she continued her education as an international student at Salt Lake Community College. She graduated in 2015 with an AAS Degree in Paralegal Studies. She also completed her Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) as a paralegal for a prominent Utah criminal defense law firm.

In 2018, Ysabel furthered her education by earning her L.L.M. (Master of Laws) degree from Brigham Young University. Her efforts culminated in her admission to the Wisconsin Bar in 2019. Since then, Ysabel has specialized in immigration law, including deportation defense, asylum, naturalization, adjustments of status, family petitions, and immigrant visas.

Ysabel also served as a legal advisor for the People of Peru Project, a nonprofit organization, until she joined Ishola Law Group in 2021. She is actively involved in various volunteer projects assisting immigrants, such as The Immigration Justice Project and Alliance Community Services. She enjoys giving back to her community and volunteers her time to other civic organizations, in addition to her pro bono legal work. Ysabel is also a volunteer leader of a Salt Lake City-based Girl Scout Troop consisting of only immigrant-refugees. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the AILA Utah Chapter.

Ysabel’s personal experience as an immigrant to the United States has uniquely positioned her to assist other foreign nationals. Having navigated the immigration process herself as a work and travel participant (J-1), college student (F-1), and specialty occupation worker (H-1B), she understands the importance of zealous representation for her clients.

Ysabel is committed to providing professional assistance to those facing immigration challenges. She understands the importance of having a compassionate attorney who comprehends the immigrant journey.

In addition to being a native Spanish speaker, Ysabel is fluent in English and French.
